ABOUT THE WORK
This work expresses through geometry my love of color and design. The principal focus is on the optical qualities of color. In some of the images, purple manipulated by red becomes darker with a hint of blue, while purple influenced by blue seems lighter with a touch of red. The interaction of colors is most important. Integration and balance play a role in the inherent meditative quality of the art. The works of Seurat and Albers have been instrumental in inspiring my work. Seurat’s marking process, rather than his color investigations directly influenced the methodology. Visual mixing of pigments, rather than physical blending of pigments on a palette in the traditional way, forms vibrant colors. Albers’ use of the simple square to display his color theories suggested the geometrical presentation. My intention is not merely to represent light but to make the art itself a source of light.
